Region 1 Meeting

Ignite the FCCLA Flame
65 years and still burning!!!

The Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) Region 1 Meeting was held in Odessa, January 27-29.
Nine GHS students were among the approximately 1,000 students that attended the two-day conference. The youth developed theme, "Ignite the FCCLA Flame", was carried out in a series of specialized workshops and general sessions in which members discovered ways to become actively involved in issues facing today's youth. Motivational speaker, Gabe Salazar encouraged the group to aim high and attain personal life goals in his riveting presentation.
Brandi Brown, served as the Regional I Vice-President of Records this past year. She did an exceptional job along with the other regional and state officers in presiding over and running the conference. Other GHS students attending and helping with the 22 competitive events were: Juliana Trejo, Mariela Mundo, Samantha Sanchez, Yesenia Mendoza, Janet Ayala, Rocio Terrazas and Irasema Soto. These students served as time-keepers, hall monitors, runners and anything else that was asked of them. They also did and exceptional job.
